Coffee On the Road Can Be a Life Saver
Have you ever been driving late at night while feeling exhausted? This is not only dangerous in terms of increased risk of a car accident, but can also be a health hazard. Tiredness while driving is one of the biggest causes of car accidents, particularly late at night and in the early hours of the morning when things are quiet and there are not many cars on the road.
Drinking coffee before you start a long car journey can heighten your senses and make you more alert than you otherwise would be due to the caffeine which is a stimulator.
Studies have concluded that drinking coffee assists in keeping you awake at the wheel. Preferably you should not drive at all when tired, but if you absolutely must drive, then coffee intake will help keep your eyes open and your mind alert to your surrounds.
Driving when severely tired is just as bad, sometimes worse, than driving under the influence of alcohol. It is akin to being drunk at the wheel as your reaction times are slow and you are at risk of micro sleeps.
Very hot coffee is the best remedy for driver tiredness. If you are taking a long road trip on quiet country roads then you will not regularly come across coffee shops or gas stations to buy a hot coffee. For this reason it is wise to take your own supply along for the ride.
